Antigenicity of Varicella Zoster Vaccine in Guinea Pigs and Mice

Abstract
The Antigenicity of Varicella Zoster Vaccine was investigated in mice and guinea pigs. Antigenicity tests-active systemic anaphylaxis(ASA), passive systemic anaphylaxis(PSA), passive cutaneous anaphylaxis(PCA) and indirect haemagglutination test(IHA)-of this material was performed according to the Established Regulations of National Institute of Safety Research.
The results were as followed :
1. When guinea pigs were sensitized with Varicella Zoster Vaccine emulsified with complete Freund¢¥s adjuvant(CFA), these animals showed negative reactions in ASA and PSA.
2. No blue spots were observed on the back skin of rats with antisera of sensitized mice in the PCA test.
3. Antisera of mice sensitized with Varicella Zoster Vaccine emulsified with CFA revealed a negative reaction in IHA.
4. As positive controls, the guinea pigs and mice were sensitized with BSA emulsified with CFA. These animals showed positive reactions in ASS, PSA, PCA, and IHA.
Therefore, Varicella Zoster Vaccine was not induced anaphylatic shock in guinea pigs
In addition, Varicella Zoster Vaccine didn¢¥t have haemagglutinating activity.
